Heller (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

That was an unexpected surprise!I downloaded this ebook from Amazon as a free story. I didn't even remember what the story was when I started reading it (on my phone on the way to work) but I end up putting aside everything else I was reading. I was hooked from the begging. Tilly is funny, smart, tremble magnet and apparently very good looking. The story starts with her being fired from her work under a very humiliating moment and she desperately needs a new job. She finds it in an add for a security team owned by Heller. The attraction is instant but Tilly is a girl that knows when to say no and for good reasons. We see her involved in a few cases that she completes successfully but not without creating havoc around her. The relationship between her and Heller is good but it doesn't dominate the book. Also the relationship she builds with Daniel and Niq is beautiful. Of course there is a pastern there with the cases and as a story is not something new but it is a very enjoyable read. The only thing that keeps me from placing the extra star is that there are more books to the series and I am afraid they might tire me is the storyline remains the same (mostly in the cases part) and I understand that the thing between Tilly and Heller moves very slowly. I am a romantic what can I say I want my main characters’ to be together even if it means less books. I've seen this book on a quite a few GR friends list and another friend recommended it to me so I gave it a try. (at the moment it's free on amazon, if you are interested!) Tilly is a down on her luck and down on her life woman at the start of this book. She is trusting of people and has no real money coming in. When she gets fired from her latest job (dressing up as a piece of watermelon) she goes on a job hunt and stumbles across a job at a private security agency. Her whole trip there is disastrous and she meets her potential new boss Heller in pretty bad circumstances. Heller gives her a job on a trial basis and that's where all the mayhem begins. When my friend recommended this book to me she said it reminded her a little of the Janet Evanovich series, and she was very right. Tilly has that same quirky, get into all kinds of trouble persona to her and Heller very much reminded me of Ranger. Except Heller was an even more dangerous, alpha male whose possessiveness I sometimes worry about. There were definitely times in this book that I did a double take at either a situation that went awry and Tilly found herself stuck in, or at the way Heller treated other people. Either way, it was a nice change of pace and felt like a very different book from what I've been reading lately. I'm hooked and on to the next one!

What do You think about Heller (2011)?

Funny but a little extreme. Not bad if looking for something with humor.
