Harbour Lights (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

I was sort of surprised that this book was revolved around Kevin as he got married in the last book. I thought there was something off with his quickie marriage and Georgia was odd and didn’t really seem to fit in with the O’Brians.I hated that Kevin had to go through loosing Georgia and hated how he much he was thrown into a black hole, one that even his son couldn’t seem to bring him out of. I hated that he seemed to ignore Davey or put him on the back burner and was glad that the O’Brian clan meddled and none of them would butt out and did their best to drag Kevin back to life.I really liked Shanna from the start, loved that she was wary of Kevin, and really she had good reasons to be. I also really liked that Shanna got the scoop so that she could enter into things with her eyes wide open. I hated that part of her doubts were the comparisons from her past. Kevin annoyed me at times because he was so judgmental with Shanna. He kept jumping to conclusions without knowing all the facts or even caring to get them. I did find it funny how Kevin was annoyed with his family with their meddling. It seemed like each person had a stake in his and Shanna’s relationship.I liked the ending, loved that Shanna had both the person that she had to leave behind, , the person she found, and the big family she has always wanted. Hero is a war veteran (medic) whose wife went back to the war, where she was killed, leaving him home to care for their toddler son. The story begins a year or so later, when his family decides it's time to get him out of his gloom and moving again. He has a really annoying, meddlesome family.Heroine is the owner of the new bookstore next door to hero's sister's flower shop. She's divorced, with a stepson she didn't want to leave behind with his rich alcoholic father. Those backstories are only the beginning of the complications. It's a nicely told story. A good read.
