I read this book bc a friend recommended it. It starts off painfully bad. There's a lot of info dump. For example, I think we're blatantly told multiple times what each character needs (bc we couldn't possibly figure it out for ourselves) before we're even told what the characters look like. The book does get better, although I personally found the secondary character (Will) a more intriguing character than either protagonist. At least this book didnt annoy me as much as Drawn Together did, but all-in-all, it was very mediocre.I also never really felt Kelly's anxiety. It wasn't like in Finding Zach, where I got a really vivid sense of what Zach went through when he had a panic attack. And Jae's asthma felt arbitrary, brought up halfway through and seemingly used as a plot device. In general, I just never really connected to the characters. Kelly Kendall lives at home with Will, his houseboy, because he is crippled by his agoraphobia. Nearly two decades ago, he secretly wrote a best-selling novel but hasn’t written anything since. Will challenges him to write a satire of his own book under a pseudonym. This book turns out to be wildly popular, but catches the attention of Jae-sun Fields, a reporter who is determined to out who this plagiarizing writer is. Through twists and turns, these two meet and get together—but will their secrets and obligations tear them apart, or strengthen their relationship? This book is intelligently and wonderfully written. I was captivated from the very first sentence until the end of the book because there are such rich layers to the story—you think one thing will happen, but then the author pulls you in another direction. The author is also so very insightful into the world of literature, fanfiction, and fandom—these three elements are woven together well, although they do take up barely 1/3 of the novel. This is certainly one of the best books I’ve read so far into my foray into m/m romance. Yes, it does have the clichéd romance to an extent and then it’s all hands on deck after that. The way the two men meet is just so delicious, and it’s hilarious at the same time. I just love the plot, and I love that both men have secrets of varying intensities to hide from each other. Love love love this book. Another aspect I adored while reading is the protective and loving nature both men exude. I’m so glad I started off 2013 with ePistols at Dawn.
