Emily Windsnap And The Castle In The Mist (2007) - Plot & Excerpts

Storyline Emily Windsnap and the Castle in the Mist is the third book in the Emily Windsnap series. One morning, Emily and her class find out in school that Neptune, the mer-king, is coming to the school, and they must search for as many jewels and feathers that they can to decorate themselves for Neptune's arrival. Emily and Shona, her best friend in the world, set off to find some jewels. But while Emily is there, she found a ring, a ring with a big diamond on top. But what she didn't realise is that such a beautiful ring can cause a lot of trouble... CommentThis is the third book in the Emily Windsnap series, and I loved it! It is gripping, heart-racing and exciting. What is going to happen next? Where are they going to go? Because these questions keep racing through your mind, you find yourself reading page after page and you are whizzing through it! This is a definite good-read. RatingI have rated this book four stars, because of how gripping and exciting it is. It has beautiful descriptions, so that you can then picture yourself in the scenery, watching everything happening. I can see that the author, Liz Kessler, put all of her heart and work into the book, which I appreciate very much! Age GroupI think that this book would be good for pre-teens, or maybe 10+. I think that the book is very good, but it has some complicated words and descriptions inside, so I think that it is better for the higher age-group. My Favourite CharacterI have been trying to think which one out of the two I like best: Emily Windsnap or Shona Silkfin? They are both kind, fun, adventurous... but I do think that I prefer Shona. She is fun, but she is also very careful and aware of what she's doing, where as Emily does what she wants and finds herself in trouble! I think I love both of them evenly, though. Suggestion to the AuthorAll I can say to the author is to keep up the terrific work! I think that because I love this series so much, I might just consider buying some of her other books! Keep up the good work. Faye xx

Emily Windsnap and the Castle in the Mist by Liz Kessler is a fantasy must-read for all preteens! It starts when the main character, Emily Windsnap, finds a beautiful diamond ring buried in the sand, so she puts it on... but then she can't take it off! It becomes a burden (it's cursed and magical), and King Neptune, the king of the sea, is not happy (more like infuriated) with Emily... Read the book to find out why he's so angry with her. Since he is so angry, he sets a curse on her which will result in her never seeing one of her parents again... can she stop the curse?I just LOVED this book. LOVED it. It was very mysterious and interesting. When Emily was trying to get the other ring, and she was trying to swim to Shona, I was so interested that the real world faded away and I was pulled into the story, not thinking about one other thing besides the book (Seriously!)! When Ms. Kessler was describing the ocean and surroundings, she did a great job, too. When a book is by Liz Kessler, you know it's going to be great! She always has an interesting fantasy story to tell, whether it's about a mermaid or a fairy or time-traveling. This one happens to be about a mermaid, and it is the third book in the series. Liz Kessler is a great author from England, and she is a very popular author of children's fantasy stories. Never stop writing! :)http://reviewsbykristina.blogspot.com...

What do You think about Emily Windsnap And The Castle In The Mist (2007)?

Big drop in rating with this one. I found it very bad in comparison to the first two that were written. Emily is constantly worrying about her parents and whether they love each other and consequently, if they still love her. This got very annoying and helped ruin the book. The worst part was the annoying element of magical coincidences. Yes, that is what makes it a children's book series, but come on! All these things need to happen for the ring to be found, and the conditions only happen about once every 500 years and Emily just so happens to be there the ONE NIGHT that it is possible!? Give me a break fish girl.In another review, I mentioned how much I dislike Neptune. I must point out again how irritating he is. He changes his mind on a whim! No for intermarriages! Yes for intermarriages! No! YEEESSSS Love for AAAALLLLL!!! Makes me want to rip starfish apart

I would really give this book a 10 star rate ! This is a really awesome book ! It's not really that tomboyish and not too girly stuff. As i was reading i made a text - to - self connection, since this book was about mermaids, it reminded me of a show on Nick called : H20 which is also about mermaids & Emma the long blond-brownish hair one that controls ice power is my FAVE !! also one of my favorite parts about the book is when Shona and Emily were gathering materials and stuffs for their presentations to show Neptune what they created since he lost his whole entire collection of treasure and jewels. i made a prediction that Emily has some sort of feelings for Aaron, because in the book, they were kinda like in a more close relationship which is like more than a friends relationship !!! :) I still can't believe that Neptune forgave Beeston!!! he's also one of the reason why Mary forgot about her husband !!! If i was the author i would make Shone have permission to with Emily & travel the world together ! (because Shona is my favorite character :D) This book is acutally for girls, but boys can read it too (if they want to) and it's cool and it's not really that girly (- to me :D) so DEFINETELY READ THIS BOOK, I REALLY REALLY RECOMMEND IT !! i CANNOT WAIT TO READ THE OTHER SERIES THE AUTHOR : Liz Kessler : Philippa Fisher's Fairy God SISTER !! :D
