Driven To Ink (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

Tattoo artist Brett Kavanaugh does more detecting than tattooing. She is always in the wrong place at the wrong time. In this installment, she loans her car to Sylvia so she can get married at one of those drive-thru wedding chapels in Vegas. Only problem is the dead body in the trunk when she returns the car. Of course it being Brett's car, Brett is insatiable in her desire to find out why some dude from the wedding chapel wound up in her trunk. A lot of mixups and shenanigans later, Brett solves the case.I really like Brett and her gang - Bitsy, Joal and Ace, as well as Jeff (a rival tattooist) and her brother Tim, the cop. A very enjoyable cozy mystery with a likable protagonist. Lots of twists and turns in this book and although I guessed who was behind the murders I still questioned if I was right as I read further. With all the characters mentioned throughout I was unsure how they were involved but the author does really well drawing all the threads together so it all makes sense in the end. I have to say that felt worn out on behalf of Brett with the full day of events she had to cope with. Her dealings with Jeff are interesting and I do hope that it is leading somewhere! I have to laugh at how he has stopped smoking but habit has him sticking an unlit cigarette in his mouth. And her brother Tim's attempts to keep her under lock and key just did not work out as he hoped! The author does well knocking home to Brett that due to all her snooping and nosiness she has got herself into hot water and perhaps it is not the best for her health...but I wonder how long she will put on hold her nosiness. Brett does just as well as her brother with the detective work and finds out answers through unexpected ways.I have to look for the fourth book Ink Flamingos now as I don't have that yet.

What do You think about Driven To Ink (2010)?

The plot is pretty far fetched but fun and the romance angle is much more intriguing here.

Really a 3.5 rating. Still love this series, but this title felt a little frantic to me.
