Der Unsichtbare Wink, Band 1: Der Unsichtbare Wink (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

I have a PandaBat, Hank meets a bandapat. I am enchanted.***I read it halfway because I'd left the real book I was reading in the car. The next morning I handed it off to Tosh, who finished yesterday. She loved it! NO surprise there. I loved it too. I appreciate that Hank is suffering from a bully and that he tells his parents and teacher, and that the adults are trying to help him, although they have so far proved unsuccessful. I like it that Hank realizes when he's gone too far. I like the different levels of friendship: Hank and Chin, Hank and Wainscotting, Hank and Inkling. I love that the book is very realistic with the exception of Inkling. and I loved the ending, which was perfect.Library copy Lots of ideas that would lead to class discussions: bullying, friendship, honesty, family, imagination. The main character is in fourth grade, but this book would be good as a read aloud for second or third, maybe even first. Good book for beginning of the year. It would be interesting to use as a quick draw when reading the parts that describe the invisible friend. The only thing I really did not like in the story is the school's non-action to the bullying. It plays into the humor at the end, but I prefer to have kids believe in their teachers and their schools. It would have otherwise been a 5 star book for me. I look forward to reading the next book.

What do You think about Der Unsichtbare Wink, Band 1: Der Unsichtbare Wink (2012)?

Reading to Stephen now. This story is wonderful - perfect as a "read aloud book" to the family.

A quick read and a cute story about what happens when your invisible friend is REAL!

Not as good as her "Toys" books. But still amusing. I love a dog named Rootbeer.
