Deep Trouble II (1997) - Plot & Excerpts

Zach Brown 3/26/15Online Book ReviewDeep Trouble II: My Book ReviewBook Title and Author: Deep trouble II, R.L StineNumber of Stars (1 to 5): 5tIntroduction: This book is entertaining and a little boring, the main idea of the book is that these fish are getting really big and it’s not normal for some fish. Billy Deep and his sister are on a boat with their uncle and they’re in the Caribbean. My argument about the book is that the detail about the fish is not fully imaginable and I think in this story its needs to be pictured in your head.tDescription and Summary of Content: Billy Deep and his Sister Sheena are in for some underwater Caribbean adventure and creatures. They encounter and evil scientist that is releasing some kind of Toxic that is making these fish so big that they are turned into I guess you would call it man eaters. I mean there are lots of neat places to go swimming and snorkeling. Billy Deep and his sister Sheena are have a plan and it backfires when a real man eating shark shows up and starts chasing them to the big boat and as they get on it and the shark starts attacking the boat.tEvaluation: The book has achieved its purpose because of authors detail and perfect description. So Billy spots plankton that dr. deep has gathered and snags some gold fish to feed them the plankton. When Billy is about to feed the gold fish he Is very shocked to see that there was a humans head in the fish bowl. So he ran upstairs to the deck of the boat.tConclusion: So that’s it, I hope that you thought that the book I read was very interesting and I guess that you learned something new about this book. I really hope that they make a Deep Trouble III By the great R.L Stine.

There were some parts in the first chapter that puzzled me a bit, especially when one holds it up against what happens in the third Goosebumps book that follows after this adventure ("Creep from the Deep", Goosebumps Horrorland #2). Since Billy is thirteen in "Deep Trouble II" and only twelve in "Creep from the Deep", does this mean that the latter volume took place earlier, most likely in the same summer as the original "Deep Trouble"? If so, then is "Deep Trouble II" (which is set during the summer after "Deep Trouble) an inadvertent spoiler, letting us know that Billy and Sheena will ultimately escape from Horrorland unharmed (at the time of this writing, only ten of the eventual twelve books in the Goosebumps Horrorland series have been released). Ah, but either way, I was very pleased to see the return of my favorite Goosebumps character, Billy Deep! R.L. Stine brings freshness to this new story, with a new angle and new concepts, and the plot kept me guessing throughout. The quirky imagination of Billy Deep is humorous and a lot of fun. "Deep Trouble II" is a good story, and one that Goosebumps fans (and fans of Billy and Sheena) waited a long time to read.

What do You think about Deep Trouble II (1997)?

It's very nice to reminisce some of my favorite books back in Elementary. This is a sequel to the story of the trouble-maker kids, Billy Deep and his sister, Sheena. In this story, they are in for more underwater adventures in the Caribbean when they are back with their uncle for another summer vacation. They meet deeper trouble again starting with the evil scientist -Dr. Ritter (who planned to turn the Deep siblings into a fish), two giant-sized goldfish, and a man-eating jellyfish. The story was left unwrapped because Dr. Ritter transformed himself into a fish before the police came for help. At the end, Sheena planned to prank Billy by drinking some of the left bottles which contains chemicals that turn someone into some-FISH. She then picks up another bottle and drinks the contents, though she is suddenly unsure if she picked the right one..

after reading this book, I became afraid of all kinds of fish. I began staring at my aquarium afraid that my fish will grow huger than me!Billy and his sister , Sheena, spend each summer vacation with their uncle, Dr D, on his floating lab. They can do many exciting things such as snorkeling and discovering the sea. Something strange began to happen. All the tiny fish began to grow bigger and bigger and they even wanted to eat human-beings! Dr. D discovered that there is Dr Ritter who made the Planktons make the animals huge. he thought that this will help all the poor people and nobody will be hungry anymore. Then, This doctor, Ritter, didn't want anybody to know about this, so he tried to turn the children and Dr D into fish. At the end, Dr Ritter drank the Planktons and turned into a fish!

This one is hard to rate. On the one hand, I have really strong memories of enjoying this one as a kid, mostly for the wild adventure that was not scary in the least. However, rereading it, the adventure aspect is let down by crappy writing and goofy moments not to mention the absurdity of the entire plot. Though I'll be fair and say that in the context of the series, the plot is not even that unreasonable. Overall: quick, tame adventure story with very few surprises and some sequences that will leave you scratching your head but moving on before the stupidity can sink in. Like I said, I distinctly remember this book as the one where some kid's goldfish blew up to the size of cars and some incredibly convenient dolphins appear. I do like the inclusion of the animals and the setting in the middle of the sea. I can only say this is an extremely average book that may tip slightly above or below average depending on your preference for ocean adventures.
