oh my gosh this book was amazing! Attention all if you are looking for a book with a new tale of demons and gargoyles, with a sarcasm-spewing bad-boy hot demon, and a girl stuck in the middle, questioning where she belongs, you have found it! Meet Layla who's just 17, the offspring of a warden (gargoyle) and a demon, adopted by the wardens years ago. Her adopted brother Zayne will never see her as more than a little sister, despite her massive crush on him. She has never questioned her job and loyalty to the wardens until something happens to change her world forever. In enters Roth, an eighteen year old demon from down under. Suddenly Layla isn't sure of anything, who to trust, even who to turn to, and as more and more dark secrets stack up she will struggle as she questions everything she has even known. This story comes to a startling end as Layla is forced to choose sides in a conclusion where loyalties are tested, new found friendships strained, and a girl who's never been sure of her place in this world, must find it before it's too late...My recommendation of age: 14 and upWarning: book contains some mature content and humor I've never really been into the whole demons/gargoyles/whatever.. That transform into beings with wings and horns and hooves and what the fuck ever else. It's a weird concept to me that somehow our higher power consists of oddly put together, mismatched beings. So it's always hard for me to get into books with things like that. However.. Jennifer is one of my favorite writers and I was in the midst of having absolutely nothing to read and I picked it up off the shelf and just thought why not. Like I said before Jennifer's ability to build suspense and play out scenes and make you feel like you're so actually there that your palms sweat greatly out weigh her childish monologue sometimes.This first book in a series is about Layla a half demon, half warden that in all tense and purposes is attempting to decide between her demon self or warden self while trying to stop a crazy upper level demon that basically wants to turn the world to shit.. For what purpose, I guess you'll just have to see.I did enjoy this book and the characters in the book. Which was a surprise considering the former. I will definitely be picking up the next book.. BECAUSE THAT FUCKING CLIFFHANGER!!!!
