Caged Moon (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

I received this book from YA Bound Book Tours in return for a fair and honest review. There are parts of this book that I really enjoyed and yet parts where I thought I was going to physically hurt myself, I was rolling my eyes so much. Now I know that in a lot of the YA books, the parents fade into the background but in this one, it was almost crazy how NOT there they were. Even at the start - they're in the middle of a new place, in a forest, at night, with 3 drinking burly men and her dad is fine with her wandering around by herself, even though she takes a while. And when she gets visitors during the night and has a conversation, her dad doesn't wake up. Wow, those tent walls must be thick! There is a big dose of insta-love/insta-best friends in this book and secrets are spilled very quickly, almost as quickly as the belief in the impossible. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed this book but insta-love is a big turn-off for me personally. The story was interesting and you know that there is a twist coming but you're not sure what. The characters were well described although you don't know much about any of them apart from Liam and Charlotte. The plot moves quickly and stutters and jerks in places. Some of it could have done with more development, more history to it but on the whole, it moves quite well.A fast read recommended for fans of werewolves. Wow, very nicely done. Kudos to the author, Rachael Deagan, she did not let other cliche paranormal romances get into her head. I loved the fact that it was suspenseful and actually had the creepy factor I love in so many books. I have been reading these young adult/fantasy/romance for a while now and there is a point in every book where I realize how it is going to end. I had so many guesses in my head, and still, I was surprised and pleased by the ending. (Although, Ty and Byron would have been excellent together...)
