Boston Jacky: Being An Account Of The Further Adventures Of Jacky Faber, Taking Care Of Business (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

At eleven books in, it's hard to say anything about this series without spoiling earlier books. Suffice to say, my girlfriend and I are eagerly awaiting the release of the final book in November. We're not waiting for the audiobook version and, instead, have decided to take turns reading it out loud to each other. We like this series, a bit. I've also started two other people at work on the Bloody Jack series and they've been voracious. Why aren't you getting started? :) Summary:This is the 11th book, so think of it as a repeat of other books in a new setting. Jacky has come home to Boston to work on the business of Faber Shipping Worldwide. Unfortunately for her, she is just a bit too much for the Women's Temperance Union and the town in general. The city is bursting at the seams with the influx of Irish laborers that came over on Lorelei Lee. Jacky of course has to overcome her enemies, attempt to acknowledge that she's not perfect, and fight/make-up with Jaimy Fletcher. My thoughts:I've been reading these for a very long time. They are all fairly similar in plot line and structure. Expect that adventure movie type thing to keep going. While it is exciting if you look at the book by itself, in the mixture of the series, it feels overdone. While we do get to focus more on Jacky's adventures and less upon her flirtatious behavior within this book, it is not enough for me to want to series to continue endlessly. I feel like it is a good time to come towards a conclusion (which I know is coming within a few more books). Finally, I disliked some of the things that Jaimy did within this book. While they are technically time period relevant, a lot of the book doesn't follow those standards, so why should Jaimy? If you were to read this as a stand alone book, I think it is possible to enjoy without being very lost. There are a lot of characters, most of which are already known if you had read the series. There may be times that you are not as connected, but overall, you may enjoy it more than I did.

I like this series. This was a fun addition. The whole Jaime relationship needs to be resolved.
