Blue Fire (2009) - Plot & Excerpts

i shouldn't give it even one star. it was terrible, boring and stupid. there is so many amazing books about firefighters or about artists and this one? there is no real plot here, no feelings, nothing. things are happening without any reason and then boom there is happy ever after. it is like some kund of drunken story when only You can find a sense in what You're saying. It was a total waste of time. A short story that is an okay read, but not one of my favorites by this author. We meet Jared being rescued from the beautiful home which he shared with his late by rugged young (24,year old)fireman Adam. The home itself is engulfed in flames and the two are only able to get a portrait of his late partner. I really disliked the character Jared, though 37 years old, he seems much younger. I question what Adam sees the least bit attractive about this depressed, immature, man-boy. Also, we're treated to Jared's fixation on the color blue, that gets annoying at times.Needless to say, Jared goes to rehab to deal with his depression , and Adam visits him there for several months. Adam feels that Jared needs to get away from the luxurious rehab center and take a vacation with him at his family cabin in Colorado. We see passions ignite between the two men, and learn the relationship Jared had with his much.older and wealthy late lover. *******+SPOILER ALERT****** Adam's vacation is cut short due to a massive fire in California and he must get back. For some reason, Adam hates the idea of leaving Jared who decides he won't be going back to Cali. The sad sack albatross wants to travel. Adam fells sad by this, wish I could say I felt the same. Adam should be jumping for joy that he's rid of this annoying man.I won't go into more details, only to say that Jared is one of the most unlikeable characters I've read in a while. He had a controlling partner who he stayed with it seems because he loved the older man's status and wealth. I guess the constant put downs by his late partner were nothing compared to the man's genius as an architect and the chance to travel all over the world with him.I was glad when I finished this story, which seem so much longer then it was!
