I picked up the first book in this series because Amazon recommended it at the end of the Darynda Jones "Charley Davidson" series, which I just reread (and love). I completely understand the recommendation and after reading, and really enjoying the first book, I downloaded the rest of the series. Rylee Adamson is strong and tough, but has a soft underbelly and a strong sense of right and wrong. And she has a good sense of humor - which always helps. If you like Kim Harrison's Hallows series, this is very similar and you will enjoy it. Give it a read! After being thoroughly excited over the last book in this series and giving it 5 stars, I'm back to disliking the heroine. She had a blip of reasonable behavior in the last book, but now she's back to bitchy. *sighs*Not much I can say about the plot because some major things happen. Rylee and O'Shea end up on a salvage (kid rescue) that seems pretty straight forward and ends up being anything but (as per usual in UF, right?). There are major implications for future books so this one is a bit of a bridge. And the implications are extreme, so I'm definitely going to read the next one. It's a rough story this time. There are things I'm not happy about and there are hints at something potentially happening that make me VERY unhappy. How's that for cryptic? I guess I'm just saying that this series is not a must read for me and each book is a possible deal breaker. Since I'm putting off reading the next in the series (the last installment available), I won't know until later if I'm still on board. But if it goes the direction she's hinting at, I'm not seeing a strong future commitment from me. That's due to my personal preferences, anyone else's mileage may vary. Not to put anyone off of this series, it's pretty good. But the first book of the series set the bar pretty high so I have expectations. :)
