One of her sneakers went flying. With dripping green claws, the ragged apparition reached for her. Something big flew at Kara and she scrambled sideways in the mud. She turned to see the cat standing between her and the ghoulish creature.With a snarl, the cat bared fearsome fangs.The monster howled incoherently, reaching and clawing.Kara leaped to her feet and ran. “Ow, ow, ouch!” she shrieked as her sock-covered foot came down on sharp rocks.
