A Vida Privada De Maxwell Sim (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

I hated this book! Well, actually I loved it. I really liked Max. I wanted Max to do well, and he does. I was rooting for him all the way; and he was real. He had real emotions with real responses. By the end of the book, he was really in my life. But why o why Mr Coe did you write the last chapter? Leave that stuff to book shows and presentations. Don't tell us how you created a character and then snap him out of existence. It's like a magician at the end of the show going... "No, no, no, I'm not that great. The box has a false bottom; see". 4 and a half for the first 21 chapters, but the last chapter dropped it by a half. Is this a modern day Reggie Perry? I didn't really see much of the programme but this book seems to be similar in style. I enjoyed reading about Maxwell's experiences and fantasized about being able to just randomly go off and do the same as he did, especially the trips to Australia. Typically it all seemed to end well and I think you could probably argue quite strongly why he chose each option when he did. I found the ending a bit random when the author started speaking to him?! Did anyone else find this strange? Otherwise I enjoyed the story and would certainly read other books by the same author.

What do You think about A Vida Privada De Maxwell Sim (2010)?

qualche passaggio molto bello, qualche altro proprio pessimo (sì, l'ultima chiacchierata con emma)
—DJaya

Hilarious in places, but a little too heavily meta for me.

Très déçue ! Le moins bon de tous les Coe d'après moi.

A very unusual book, but enjoyable

OK, a little bit dull at places.
