Compromising Kessen (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

4.5-5.0 stars!Compromising Kessen is a cute, heart-warming romance that pops your eyes out! It's a bit on the edge of sexy yet sweet and funny and cute and I just love whenever they banter. Plus, if you just see how Nick and Duncan pulled things on the two, you'd rather roll on the floor and laugh or just stay put and laugh about it. It was really fun and exciting. And just the mere mention of Brits in the book info, I new I have to read it. This is the first book that I read from the author, Rachel Van Dyken, and I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series! Why? Because Royal Brits, is all I need to say. I need not say any more. ((: I'm between 3.5-4 on this one. I definitely enjoyed it. The storyline was cute (I LOVE when the main characters start out hating each other!), I loved the wit and sarcasm, and the characters were great. I might have even liked the two side characters, Duncan and Nick, as much as the main ones! I found myself actually laughing out loud at some parts. That being said...and I can't believe I'm going to say this...but I think I could have done with less kissing. I mean, I understand being madly attracted to someone. But the physical attraction felt like the main ingredient for Kessen and Christian instead of the icing on the cake. And while the interruptions were at some points hysterical, I kept thinking if they weren't interrupted, I bet they would have slept together right away. And I prefer love stories where the tension lasts longer, the love story grows, and they're choosing not to jump in bed together--instead of just being stopped every time. And honestly, since every time they were alone they were making out, after awhile the tension was gone and it was simply lust. And I love the tension. Don't get me wrong I LOVE some good kissing in books (and it's a waste of a book for me if there isn't some good tension/passion)...it just seemed a bit excessive in this book, and for me lost some of the tension/sizzle/swoon-worthiness after awhile because I was expecting it. It also made it a little hard for me to believe they were actually falling in love instead of just in lust. Also, I would have liked the epilogue to be further in the future than the same night as the chapter before. That way, it could have shown that they were able to deepen their relationship while still keeping the fire alive. :) But all in all, I still enjoyed it...I think it would make a cute movie because the storyline and characters were good and there were plenty of great lines/laugh out loud moments/scenes. And if they had just kept a little more of the tension alive and not made out in what seemed like every.single.scene, it might have been a solid 4 or 5 star for me.
